Looks pretty cool :)
One thing that I don't get about katanas, is why is the emblem or whatever on the handle under the black string.. You can't see what it looks like.


And on other japanese topics, I might start a new anime today.

Got it cheap as fuck since I imported it, about 1000 SEK.
You have to pull a swift one on customs though, because they'll either seize it or tax you to death if they intercept it :P

Those are the the brass heads of wooden pegs that go through the handle, keeping the blade in place. You can unwind the wrapping, remove the pegs, remove the blade, dismantle the handle and put it back together again.

Well no ha I will take a look at the new version at some point I think though.
Sae recommended Ouran Highschool Host Club, So I'll take a look at it :) Might take a look at Love Hina today as well, if I stay awake long enough.

...well, im a pasty white kid who HAS been to japan...

hmmm....i should have pinay take some photos around the house to show our japanese shit....we have so much here....including one wall lined with wall hangings and a katana above the door :)

I think I faintly recall a WW2 era katana in the old "weird stuff you own"-thread, was that yours?

Also, I've always wanted wall hangings. I just always got the impression that if I ever bought one, it would say "penis" and I would never be able to tell.

i do not own a WWII katana....my guess would be that it was trust, but i cant be sure...i do have a collection of swords, but only the viking sword is authentic in any capacity, and it was recently made.

anyway, im not the photographer my wife is (she is currently making a "diaper cake" for the baby shower we are attending tomorrow) but i clicked a few pics of our more prominent japanesey stuff here they are:
