CoD: Modern Warfare 2
Just got it today. I have played every COD game and tons of other "realistic" FPS (ie: all of the Battlefield games among others). I have not had the time to try out online play yet but the Single player campaign is amazing so far. At least one scene has the old "run over here and do something, run back, run over here, run back" thing going on that usually means they ran out of ideas, but there is so much going on it fits. The game really brings home the confusion that urban warfare causes in the soldiers, with civilians caught in the crossfire in some scenes. It can be very claustrophobic at times when you have to go through narrow winding alleys with people all over shooting at you.
The whole mess over the airport scene ("No Russian") is overblown. Firstly, it is important to the entire storyline as it sets the reasoning behind the rest of the game. Secondly, you have the option not to even go through it and you are required to opt into the experience at a mandatory checkpoint screen. Thirdly, you do not have to kill civilians although you must kill security to get through the scene if you play it. I understand some people have been through stuff that would make the scene very hard to actually go through, and for those people they should skip it.
